Approx. five years ago, we remodeled our kitchen spending over $40,000 - $25,000 of which was for Kraftmaid Cabinets with an ivory glaze on plywood...not particle board.

From the very moment they were installed, problems appeared. The dove-tail joints showed small cracks and then cracks turned into peeling finish. Kitchens Plus company very kindly replaced cabinet door fronts, our garbage can pull out, and other cabinets....but then the problems reoccurred and affected many cabinets. the finish started peeling from the bottom edge of the upper cabinets....If our house were on the market, our kitchen would look like it needs a remodel..despite the big budget spent.

The cabinet next to the Dishwasher has peeling finish too..

When the Kraftmaid Rep came to the house to look things over, he said it was all caused by water and steam...YES- kitchens have water and steam....sinks, coffee makers, tea kettles, rice cookers....I use them all and I can't put all my kitchen gadgets in front of windows clear of any upper cabinets....The warranty is obviously worthless! I chose Kraftmaid because I was assured the baked on factory finish was much better than a custom made cabinet that had been painted....ugh- I don't think sooooooooo!

Monetary Loss: $25.

Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana

Hello, I have similar issue w bisque glaze and placed complaint in 2016. I am going to pursue restitution again. Any tips?

I'm having the same problem with Kraft Maid glazed cabinets. I'm in the midst of dealing with the VP of HR and Customer Service.

The reason I raised it to that level was recieving this boilerplate letter. The representative left the recommended text in rather than addressing the problem. Note the insert sentence... How many of you received this letter?

" Good evening Stuart, Thank you for the opportunity to address your warranty concerns. After further review of your photographs and details we respectfully decline your request for these parts to be replaced under a warranty.

The issue we are seeing in the photos reflect (insert short descriptionโ€ฆwear and tear, abuse and negligence, with in our specs etc.), and does not fall under the coverage of our warranty. You may view the full warranty guidelines by clicking the following linkwww.KraftMaid.com

Same exact thing has happened to us and itโ€™s pathetic!

anybody sue these scammers

Had the exact same issues 1 year in and warranty department has refused to respond after numerous contacts on their lifetime warranty product. Definitely subpar and cheap and considering legal action based on loss.

Has anyone considered doing a small claims suit? My cabinets are as well peeling, they started peeling just 3 months into us moving into our new home.

Kraft maid told us as well it was water damage. Which is a joke.

Hey What happened ?? Did they resolve your problems?? I almost the same exact issues and it looks like I could have written this letter and all the other ones on the internet that I am dismayed to read.I like you believed Kraftmaid made a superior product and did not expect this problem to keep reecurring.

We have the same problem. we have the vanilla bean glaze.

We had many arguments with Kraftmaid even during the install process because of the inconsistent finish.

I hate my kitchen and wish we never used Kraftmaid. They are absolutely horrible.

I am having the same problem. My cabinets were installed about (6) years ago.

Paint is chipping off. I have maple cabinets with the painted glaze finish in bisque color. I am so disappointed.

My touch-up kit has since dried up and not usable. How can I get another touch-up kit?

Guest

I have the same issue. If I spill a little water on the cabinet and dont wipe it immediately, the finish peels off.

I bought the cabinets years ago and my wife continually tells me we shouldve bought IKEA. We thought we were buying quality, but apparently not.

I have the same issue. I just bought my home and realtor told me the kitchen we redone about 6 years ago...it was 10 actually.

I noticed how awful the cabinets were peeling and i called Kraftmaid. They said I am "just" over the 10 year warranty. Its BS if you ask me. Our cabinets are the same kind, the bisque white.

They have conveniently discontinued that color now too. Wonder why.

Now are only left to purchase BRAND new cabinets to fix issue. Nice when I thought I was getting a new kitchen.

They advertise a lifetime warranty , try calling the company and the BBB . maybe if we all complain they will do something about this particular painted cabinets.

I have these cabinets with a mocha glaze installed in my home office NOT my kitchen where there is no steam or water. Cracking is still occurring along the wood seams.

Does anyone know if there is touch up paint for this product. Flecks of glaze and paint have chipped off and I'm down to the wood.

Same thing happened to us, with the ivory glazed cabinets. Rep blamed us, but replacedthe doors, and the second set hd the same thing happen. Atthe point, i'll bypass kraftmaid and hir someone to paint them with marine paint.

My KitchenMaid cabinets started showing areas of peeling early on. My sister has painted KitchenMaid cabinets as well, and has the same problem.

im calling the bbb no more waiting thats it im done

If you read their specs it states their painted finishes feature a heavily pigmented stain which is water based, water on a water based finish is not good. Not a true paint.

KraftMaid is the largest manufacturer of cabinets in the world. A few disgruntled customers is nothing compared to the hundreds and hundreds of thousands of happy customers.

There is a reason they have been consumer digest's best buy multiple times. The reason a lot of these customers are "pissed" is because they think they are buying "the best" cabinets you can buy. You aren't.

KraftMaid is an excellent value for the money, but it is hardly the best cabinet you can buy. I'm sure there are some "horror" stories, just like there are with any manufacturer producing this high of volume and their product is made from wood.

You must be working for them to say this. I bought white dove cabinet and half of them arrived damaged!!!

Peeling completely!! The quality is bad, really bad. Not even value for money!!

Paying 30 K for cracked cabinets!! Terrible.

These are really junk and true they look for water to void. The face frame peeled and was suggested water ran off the countertop and down the inside of the door to the bottom outside face frame.

These are constructed poorly but found out when deliverered. Carcasses are not always squared and glued out of square .

Support is the worst and not worth the cost which for me was 6k. Never again
