Hello fellow kraftmaid nightmare consumers.....

So My husband and I went to a kitchen and bath place and purchased beautiful kraftmaid cabinets. Delivery date was as promised. We were installing ourselves so we had no deadlines. From the first box we opened we took a pad and paper and wrote out the numerous defects of each piece. The general list came down to cabinets not square, dents and dings, scratches, horrible finish and loose laminate pieces. We've sent back the $600.00 shelves twice already. The second time they were worse than the first.

We purchased 2 tall pieces. One for each side of the refrigerator. Both were damaged. They replaced them and one was acceptable and one had gauges through the wood. 1/3 of the replacement doors were also ***. When the professional came out to look at the *** replacements he told my husband that "you can use this tall piece on the inside, no one will see the scratches". Excuse me? Was he serious? We didn't spend $300 for the panel to be scratched.

I have a living room full of extra panels that we have no idea what to do with. I'm about to invite every unhappy Kraftmaid consumer from here over to my house to have a big Kraftmaid bonfire.

We gutted the entire kitchen and dining room. even replaced sheet rock and sub floor. We started in the beginning of August and it took 2 people, working on this part time a lot less time to complete the hard labor than it is for Kraftmaid to fix a few doors. Really not thrilled with the company and their shoddy work.

I have to say the girl I have been working with in their customer service department is really nice and she's been doing her best to get the guys back out here. Oh and the first guy that came out was pretty good too. I didn't want to kick him out.

Overall I'm still pissed off and since Thanksgiving is in 3 weeks....they better get it together. This kitchen needs to be done...

Oh and for good measure....Silestone effed up the counter top too....my cabinet won't open because they cut it wrong. the sink cut out isn't right. There's a gap between a wall. there's a huge chip in the counter right near the sink, a scratch in the counter top, back splash is cracked.

What happened to quality???????

I blame the DIY channel for all of your concerns. I am sorry that you've experienced the nightmares, but every time I see this it is because somebody did not hire a licensed contractor.

The home is most peoples' biggest investment. Increase its value by using an experienced craftsman. The cost is more initially, but most diy remodelers I've met may as well have thrown their money into the wind. Two this year threw away their modulars and started over with my cabinetmaker.

Design is also a craft to be mastered. No offense, but most box store employees just aren't Frank Lloyd Wright.

This isn't always true. There are two kitchen designers at the Home Depot I work at and we are both Certified Kitchen Designers and each have over 20 years kitchen design experience.

Why would we work here instead of a design studio. Insurance, 401K, 5 weeks vacation, and bonuses.

My husband and I were awoken suddenly this morning by our Kraft Maid Cabinet crashing to the floor. All of the glassware turned to shards and dust for 10 feet from the Kitchen.

The back of the cabinet is still on the wall. The cabinet itself blew apart. Crazy, Anyway nouthing KM will do as I am not the original owner but I thought you folks would enjoy the story.

Wish I could post a picture it was quite a mess. :eek

are working their way off the wall. They were here when we bought the house.

one fell off the wall after we moved in. now the others are starting to sag. the install is with screws through the masonite backing which is holding up the cabinets. the masonite is separating.

install or not it is a bad situation. previous owner bought through bray & scharff, Arlington, VA. As the cabinets began to slip the plastic shelf supports also began do fail and we had falling shelves. expect falling cabinets next.

and they look so nice in the showroom. might as well buy IKEA.

I don't trust anyone who can't type in proper English and can't spell basic words. If you can't spell "warranty", how the heck can you install cabinets?

THESE CABINETS ARE JUNK!!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYBODY.

PURCHASED FROM JUST CABINETS IN LANCASTER. THE BACKS ARE CARDBOARD AND JUST PLAIN STAPLES ARE USED TO FASTEN THE BACKS. THEY FELL OFF THE WALL, AND KRAFTMAID BLAMED INSTALLATION.

THE INSURANCE WOULD NOT PAY BECAUSE OF FAULTY CONSTRUCTION. SO BEWARE!!!!

I hate Kraftmaid...The medicine cabinet was off center--manufactored door--and mirror as well...plus, it was recessed and the door would do damage each time it was opened because it did not have an angle limiting hing, or built in spacer.

They refused to honor the warrentee!!!!!!!!!!...and Home Depot agreed with me!!!!!!!!--they agreed to cover the warrentee, thusly, I never got a chance to slap them with a lawsuit...I would have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
